My Story
I was fortunate to grow up with animals, and lovingly formed a strong partnership with all of them, constantly being surprised and entertained by their distinctive personalities and behaviours, and now see this time as an important influence on my work.
I also grew up in a very artistic household, which provided me with the insight of understanding the challenges, disciplines and rewards of being an artist. My mother had an understated eye for good art and I hold dear two Inuit (Eskimo) carvings and a book by George Swinton ‘Eskimo Sculptures’ she left me. Living with these from early age I can see how important these where in shaping and styling my work.
Before I start on a new model, I take a long time to decide on the pose reflecting on how best to create a piece that is expressive, emotional, fun and natural. I like all my work to be individual and unique and therefore each piece of the limited editions are hand painted and finished by me, so when purchasing my work you have your own special, distinctive sculpture.
